To reach St John's Church If you arrive in Cardiff by train, coach or bus at Cardiff Central station, the entire parish is on the north side of the railway line. On the south side is the Cardiff Bay parish of St Mary's. Go right along Wood Street, at the juntion with St Mary street, cross the road, and turn left. Walk up St Mary Street towards the castle. Turn second right and you will see the fine fifteenth century tower of the Parish Church of St John the Baptist ahead of you. If you come by car on the M4 from the Swansea direction, leave the motorway at the A470 junction and head towards the city centre. On the M4 from Newport, take the A48(M) in the direction of the city centre. Follow the signs for the University Hospital. Take the exit immedately after the hospital exit. Take second exit from the junction's roundabout and folllow the A470 into the city centre. This is North Road. After a mile you will see Cardiff Castle on your right, with car parks below its walls, and the Civic centre, also with car parking, to your left. N.B. The central area around the church is a pedestrian precint. The nearest multi-storey car parks are in Westgate Street, and close to the Ice Rink and International arena To reach St James' Church The above instructions apply, as far as the castle and civic centre. Turn left at a junction with traffic lights at the end of the civic centre nearest the city centre into the Boulevard de Nantes, in front of the law coursts and city hall. Follow this section of ring road around the city centre, under a prominent railway bridge, and then you are in Newport Road. St James' church is located on the right corner of the second junction after the railway bridge. To reach St Teilo's Church By car, as above, as far the North Road junction with Corbett Road, at the top end of the civic centre campus. Turn into Corbetts Road, continue 200 yards to traffic lights. The road becomes Cathays Terrace. Turn right 250 yards further on at the next junction with traffic lights, and then second left into Woodville Road. The church is 150 yards down the street on your left at the junction with Flora Street. To reach St Michael's Church By car, as above to Cathay's Terrace. Continue the length of the road, which goes uphill, and on the brow of the hill is a junction with Crwys Road, Turn left into Whitchurch Road. There is a large old primary school (Gladstone Junior school) on your left, then a small low rise apartment block, next to to which is St Michael's, a distinctive modern building 150 yards from the traffic lights. | |||||
